Dr. Rolf Erfurt is a long-standing industry expert and mobility enthusiast. Having worked with top-tier strategy consultancy Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, global rail manufacturer Bombardier and leading private operator Transdev he has more than 25 years of business experience. Lately Rolf served as board member and Chief Operation Officer CCO for Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe BVG for more than 5 years. In this role, he was responsible for “moving Berlin” and its yearly 1.300 Mio. Passengers. His responsibilities included operations & maintenance of 3.500 bus, tram and metro vehicles, 840 km own infrastructure, safety and security, large scale project management, technical innovations, such as decarbonization / E-mobility and autonomous driving.
During his career Rolf worked in Europe, Canada, Mexico and India. His most challenging international tasks were the construction of a new manufacturing plant for trains in India and leading a mega project for engineering and manufacturing of trams across Europe, Mexico and Canada. Rolf is a frequent speaker at international conferences, such as Global Infrastructure Initiative GII, COMET, IBBG and UITP. He also serves on several boards of prestigious transport associations.
Though having worked a lot in operations, Rolf has a strong business background. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from University of Mannheim / Germany, an MBA for the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in Bergen / Norway and a doctoral degree (Dr. oec.) from University of St. Gallen HSG in Switzerland.
